Kosher, Sabbath Observance

Tekuma Recovery is a non-sectarian program.  At the same time, food is kosher and Sabbath observance occurs as strictly as desired by the individual.  While Tekuma is a spiritually driven therapeutic community, it is not a religious one. Yet religious residents feel at home and contribute to the spirituality of the community as a whole.  Eating kosher and Sabbath observance contribute to the cohesion of the community’s therapeutic effect. Combating an addiction is a life-long struggle. The motivation to engage in this struggle and the will to practice learned relapse-prevention skills follows the formation of a healthy solid core of sober group identity founded on a spiritual basis. The community eating kosher together and mutually respecting Sabbath observance adds to the group and spiritual influence.
