Alcohol Recovery Program
Tekuma Recovery considers alcoholism an addiction. The alcohol recovery program in Israel is encompassed by the entire therapeutic community. The community is approximately evenly divided between residents suffering from alcoholism and those suffering from the various opiate addictions such as heroin, or painkillers.
Marijuana abuse is common to both groups. For some residents, marijuana exists as a stand-alone dependency.
Tekuma does not subscribe to isolating the alcohol recovery program from the treatment of other addictions. The protocol for all the substance addictions remains largely the same. What is modified in the alcohol recovery program is similar to what is modified for all the addictions. That is what exists beyond the twelve steps for all, are the specific psychological parameters that uniquely identify each resident as a psychological being with a unique history and life narrative. These life narratives are modified in Israel beyond the superficial understandings that have characterized them until now.
Furthermore, these narratives are modified in the context of a unique living experience in Israel: through actions and not just words. In addition, the alcohol recovery program is fully equipped to clinically identify and treat whatever dual diagnoses are present, with or without appropriate medication, as necessary.
